Port Blair, Feb 20: The Member of Parliament, Shri Kuldeep Rai Sharma, recently met with the Hon'ble Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar at New Delhi after receiving the Sansad Ratna Award for the third time this year.

During the meeting, Shri Sharma conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to the Vice President for acknowledging his efforts and performance as a public representative from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Port Blair, Feb 20: The 37th Convocation of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) was held on Tuesday, 20th February, 2024 at Port Blair.  The Guest of Honour Col. Arvind Varma, IPoS, Postmaster General, has graced the Convocation function at TGCE Auditorium, Port Blair.  958 students are eligible to receive their degree /diplomas for 37th Convocation out of which 98 have attended the convocation function. Large number of parents along with their wards were attended during the Convocation. 

Port Blair, Feb 20: With a vision to give a fresh look to the old Municipal Shops, through CSR Funding, the continuous efforts of Secretary PBMC, Shri Dilkhush Meena, IAS, has resulted in the State Bank of India joining hands with PBMC under CSR.As a first step, the SBI is funding for renovation of market area in front of SBI Head Office opposite Gandhi Statue.

Port Blair, Feb 20: In a concerted effort to promote health and hygiene, the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation spearheaded a successful cleanliness drive at G.B. Pant Hospital in Port Blair on February 18, 2024 from 8 am to 10.30 am.

With a firm commitment to community welfare, volunteers from the foundation undertook various cleanliness activities in the hospital premises. The initiative aimed to create a clean and hygienic environment conducive to patient care and recovery.

Port Blair, Feb 20: In order to enhance transparency in elections, the Election Commission of India has introduced a new application to monitor use of money power and poll inducements to influence the electorate, which disturbs the level-playing field in elections. The application, called Election Seizure Management System (ESMS) will also monitor action taken by central and state enforcement agencies against such offences. ESMS is a platform where all the central and state enforcement agencies will be on boarded.
